How Do I Jumpstart My Toyota Hybrid?

Our Conklin Toyota Salina Service Center sees more and more Toyota drivers opt for hybrid vehicles. Offering great mileage and more affordable maintenance, these popular models are built with two batteries: one electric and the other a typical 12V lead-acid type akin to gas-powered vehicles. This means that your 12V battery may need jumpstarting at some point. Below you’ll find an easy video and written guide for reviving your Toyota hybrid’s 12V battery. Keep a few tips in mind:

  • You’ll need two, double-ended black and red (positive/negative) booster cables
  • You’ll need another functioning vehicle with a charged battery near your hybrid
  • When finished jumpstarting your hybrid, you should always remove the cables in the reverse order that you attached them
  • Afterward, make an appointment with Conklin Toyota Salina Service Center to inspect your Toyota’s battery ASAP
