New Toyota Highlander Technology

The infotainment system of the New Toyota Highlander is powered by the automaker's Entune interface and is accompanied by the following: six speakers, five USB ports, Siri Eyes Free and Bluetooth connectivity. The system within the vehicle's cabin is expressly simple to operate (once familiar) although it is void of a "shortcut" button for navigation. As a standard, the cockpit is outfitted with a 6.1-inch touch screen (an 8-inch screen is available) and the buttons and knobs are easily able to be reached. The dash is uncluttered and serves as a fitting centerpiece to the fashionably comfortable interior of the vehicle.

There are notable changes within the Highlander since 2021; one of which is its highly luxurious interior. Impressive material quality blankets all aspects of the cabin while distinctive elements are strategically placed about it.

New Toyota Highlander Performance

As a standard, the power train for the mid-size crossover sport utility vehicle (SUV) is a four cylinder, 2.7-liter engine that is paired with an automatic six speed transmission. There is an additional power train option that is available, and it needs to be noted that testers endorse the secondary option with caution. The additional power train consists of the new V-6, 3.5-liter engine that is smartly mated with an automatic eight speed transmission. This is a more powerful option that delivers upwards of 295 horsepower as opposed to 270 horsepower.

Additionally, the new power train offers an enhanced fuel economy of 1/26 miles per gallon city/highway. It does need to be noted that if you opt for the base model of the crossover vehicle, you will need to request the V-6 power unit, with all other trim levels, it is available as a standard. Also, one must be aware that, at times, the transmission for the more powerful option labors to locate the proper gear.

New Toyota Highlander Safety

The all-new Toyota Highlander received a rating of five stars from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. Top marks were earned within the side collision testing, while four stars where awarded in the categories of rollover and frontal collisions. Thus far, the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety has not rated the widely popular vehicle. Prior model offerings could achieve the designation of Top Safety Plus+ (which is the highest possible). It is highly expected that the new Toyota Highlander will also achieve the top safety status from the coveted institute. This can be attributed to its forward collision prevention system that is standard on all trim levels.
